Undertow docs
Undertow is a Telegram trading bot for Hyperliquid. It watches every perp on every venue and the positions of the largest wallets, tells you when something actually matters, and lets you act on it in one tap — in your own account. This page explains every feature, what it's built from, and what it can't do.
what undertow is
Three things in one bot:
- Alerts that are hard to get anywhere else — most of all, where the liquidations are. Undertow polls the positions of ~700 tracked wallets every minute and aggregates their liquidation prices into a live map per coin.
- One-tap trading. Every alert carries Long / Short buttons. Orders go to your Hyperliquid account through a trade-only agent key. Stop-loss and take-profit rest on the exchange itself.
- A cast of whales. Tracked wallets get names ("Pale Condor") and running records. Follow the ones you like; get only their moves.
two-tap setup
- Open @HyperUndertowBot and send /start. The first message shows what the map sees right now — e.g. "BTC: $22M of shorts liquidate 1.9% above price" — so you see the product before configuring anything.
- Tap ⚡ Start with the essentials: every market, the Essentials alert preset. Or Customize to pick markets (Majors · Everything · TradFi) and an alert preset first. Change either later with /coins and /signals.
- Optionally connect a wallet for the Long / Short buttons — or skip; alerts start either way.
connecting a wallet
Send /connect. The bot generates a fresh agent key just for you and gives you a link to the approval page. Open it in the browser where your wallet lives and sign two messages:
- Approve the trading agent — authorises that key to place orders in your account. It expires after 180 days.
- Approve the builder code — lets Undertow route orders to your account. Your wallet shows a max rate of 0.01%.
Both are EIP-712 typed messages, not transactions — no gas. When both are signed the page sends you back to Telegram automatically and the bot verifies the approvals on-chain. From then on every alert has trade buttons.
liquidation walls 🌊
The flagship. A wall is a price level where a lot of tracked money gets force-liquidated. Undertow knows each tracked wallet's liquidation price (Hyperliquid publishes it per position), buckets them by price, and alerts when the mark gets within 1.5% of a bucket worth at least $10M on BTC, $6M on ETH, $3M on SOL, $1M elsewhere.
Below the mark = longs at risk (a break accelerates a drop). Above = shorts at risk (squeeze fuel). The Map button shows the whole ladder; /map BTC works anytime, and the live BTC map is on the home page.
cluster sweeps 💥
When price runs through a wall that was live in the last ten minutes, with volume, you get a sweep alert: the forced flow is on the tape now. Cascades chain — the next wall matters most right after a sweep.
whale moves 🐋
Tracked wallets opening, adding to, trimming, closing or flipping positions of $1M or more. Every wallet has a deterministic name and a running record built from what we watched it close — not from anything it claims.
Closes, trims and flips show how long the position was held ("held 3d 4h"), and every wallet carries its cohort tag — "leviathan · printer" — so you know who's moving before you read what.
Copy and Fade are both offered on purpose. Our own backtests say blindly following large wallets is not a reliable edge; the buttons are execution, not advice.
funding extremes 💸
Annualised funding far out of line (≥150%/yr either way on a market with ≥$2M open interest), or funding flipping sign. Positive funding means longs are paying shorts to hold — the alert says who's paying whom, and the buttons are labelled Collect (the side being paid) and Fade.
/funding lists the current extremes with one-tap Collect buttons on the top six.
cross-venue funding ⚖️
Hyperliquid's predicted funding vs Binance and Bybit for the same asset, normalised to hourly. A gap of ≥50%/yr is the carry: short the expensive venue, long the cheap one, delta-neutral. Undertow can only execute the Hyperliquid leg, so these alerts and /funding gaps don't carry buttons — a one-tap here would be a naked directional trade dressed up as carry.
movers 🚀 & open interest 📈
Movers: ≥1% in 5 min or ≥2% in 15 min on BTC/ETH; ≥3% / ≥6% elsewhere, with volume vs baseline, buy-side share and the open-interest change over the same window. OI surges (off by default): open interest up or down ≥5% in 15 minutes with ≥$2M moved, read against price — "price up with it: new longs piling in" vs "price flat: both sides loading up".
crowd flips 🧭
Per coin, the tracked wallets' long vs short notional, snapshotted hourly. An alert fires when the long share crosses 50% or moves 15 points in 24 hours with at least $5M on each side. /crowd SOL shows the split, the change, and the three biggest names on each side.
new listings 🆕
New perps, new HIP-3 venues, new spot tokens and new outcome markets, within about a minute of appearing. Thin book, no history, funding not yet settled — the first-mover window, with the risks that implies.
tape bursts 🧱
Off by default. A directional volume burst — ≥4× the per-minute baseline, ≥66% one-sided, price moving that way — or any single print over $500k, with the aggressor wallets named. Loud on a busy day; useful on the TradFi venues where a $200k print is news.
digest mode 📬
The busiest day-one complaint about any alert bot is volume. Digest mode (toggle in /signals) batches the minor alerts — funding, gaps, movers, open interest, tape, crowd, and whale moves you don't follow — into one message every 30 minutes, one line per alert, grouped by type, with compact Long / Short buttons for the few most notable coins.
What stays instant no matter what: liquidation walls, cluster sweeps, new listings, anything from a wallet you follow, and everything from your own radar.
tuning the noise
- /signals — toggle each alert type; presets Essentials / Everything / Whales.
- /coins — Everything, Majors, Crypto only, TradFi only, or a custom list.
- /mute 4h — quiet for a while; commands keep working.
- Digest mode — the minor alerts as one message every 30 minutes; see above.
- Every alert type has a per-coin cooldown (walls 30 min, whales 5 min, funding 1 h, crowd 6 h) so you don't get the same thing twice.
one-tap long / short ⚡
Buttons show your default size (/size, presets $50–$1,000; the amount is notional). A tap shows a confirm line — market, size, mark, slippage cap — and a second tap sends a market order (IOC, 2% slippage cap) to your account. Flip Instant trades on in /signals for true one-tap. /long BTC 250 and /short ETH work anywhere.
After a fill you get the price, the counterparty when it can be identified, and stop-loss / take-profit buttons. /positions lists everything with a Close button each; /close BTC closes at market.
stop-loss & take-profit 🛑🎯
Presets are percent of the margin you committed, not percent of price — a 5× position needs only a 4% price move to swing 20% of its margin. Tapping SL −25% on a 5× long places a stop 5% below entry and tells you both numbers:
These are Hyperliquid's native trigger orders — reduce-only, market-on-trigger — so they live on the exchange and fire whether or not Undertow is online. /tpsl BTC sl 75000 tp 80000 for explicit prices, /tpsl BTC sl 25% for margin terms, /tpsl BTC off to remove. Closing a position cancels its protective orders. An Auto stop-loss toggle in /signals sets one on every fill.
liquidation radar 🛟
For connected users, Undertow checks your positions every 90 seconds and shows risk the way it actually works on Hyperliquid:
- The account bar is exact. Hyperliquid liquidates a cross-margin account when maintenance margin exceeds equity; the ratio is literally how far along you are. Alerts at 50%, 70% and 85%, escalating only.
- The "% move against you" is an estimate — it assumes your positions move together — and the message says so. A net-long book that would need a >100% move is reported as unreachable: price can't go below zero.
- Per-position alerts at 5%, 3% and 1.5% from that position's own liquidation price, with the nearest tracked wall and a Stop just past the wall button.
- If a position closes outside the bot — stop hit, or closed in the app — you get the result and a share card ("· stopped out" / "· took profit").
- A weekly note per position of how much funding it has paid or earned.
venues & margin
Hyperliquid's HIP-3 venues (xyz, para, flx …) — the stock, commodity and index perps — each have their own margin account. USDC in your main perps account doesn't back an order on xyz. The bot checks the right venue before sending and tells you exactly what to do: Portfolio → Transfer → Perps (xyz). It can't move funds for you: transfers must be signed by your main wallet, which is the same rule that stops the agent from ever withdrawing.
who was on the other side
After a fill, Undertow matches your trade against the public tape — same market, within three seconds, same price and size — and names the wallet on the other side, tagging market makers by their passive-fill rate. If there's no clean match it says nothing rather than guess.
leaderboard 🏆
/leaders (7 or 30 days) ranks tracked wallets by the realised result of positions we watched them close, notional-weighted, minimum three closes. It's our tape, not their marketing, and it says so at the top. Each row has a Follow button.
following a wallet 👁
/follow pale condor or /follow 0x…. Followed wallets alert on every open, add, close and flip of $50k or more (the public threshold is $1M), regardless of your coin filter, with Copy / Fade buttons. /following lists them; /unfollow or the button removes one. /wallet 0x… profiles any address: equity, open positions, last closes.
the liquidation map 🌊
/map BTC (or just send a coin name — $BTC works too) renders the ladder for the reachable range, ±6% of the mark: price levels above and below, bars for tracked notional, nearest first. Walls further out are summarised in one "next wall" line rather than drawn — a level 25% away is context, not a map. The home page shows BTC and ETH live, refreshed every minute.
cohorts
Every tracked wallet is classified two ways, and both tags follow it around the bot:
| style | market maker · high-frequency · directional — from maker/taker mix and fill rate on the public tape; the first two are excluded from whale alerts, leaders and crowd |
| size | shrimp < $100k · dolphin < $1M · whale < $10M · leviathan ≥ $10M — by account equity |
| result | printer avg ≥ +2% on closes · steady 0 to 2% · bleeding below 0 · unranked fewer than 3 closes — from positions we watched close in the last 30 days |
The result class is our tape, not self-reported PnL. /crowd splits positioning by it: what the wallets in the green are doing vs everyone else. Recomputed every ten minutes.
price watches ⏰
/watch BTC 61200 pings you when the mark crosses that level from either side, with Long / Short buttons. The ⏰ Watch buttons on /map set one at the two biggest walls in one tap — that's how a liquidation map is meant to be used. Up to 20 active watches; each expires after 7 days untouched. /watch lists them, /unwatch BTC clears.
share cards 🖼
Every time you close a trade the bot sends a card: coin and side, the result in large type, entry → exit, hold time, size, and a story line for what the trade was — "Copied Pale Condor's ETH long", "Traded a $38M BTC liquidation wall", "Collected 964%/yr funding on HYPE". Losing trades get a card too. /card lists your recent ones. Each card carries your referral link and a QR; the Post on X button pre-fills a post.
referral program 🔗
/referral gives you a personal link. Traders who join through it are attributed to you, and you earn 25% of the builder revenue their fills generate, tracked per fill and shown live in /referral. Paid monthly in USDC to your linked Hyperliquid address once you're over $10. The rate can change with notice; self-referrals and wash volume don't count.
what the agent can and can't do 🔐
| Place and cancel orders | yes |
| Place stop-loss / take-profit orders | yes |
| Withdraw funds | never |
| Transfer between accounts or venues | never |
| Change leverage or account settings | never |
| See your private key or seed | never |
| Expires | 180 days |
| Revoke | anytime, under API Wallets on Hyperliquid |
The withdrawal boundary was verified on mainnet before anyone connected: an agent-signed withdrawal is rejected by the chain because withdrawals are attributed to the signer, so an agent can only ever act on its own empty account. The "never change leverage" row is policy, not a chain rule — the key is capable of it and Undertow doesn't use it.
Operationally: agent keys are encrypted at rest, the database is backed up nightly off-box, and a watchdog restarts the service and pages the operator if the feed stalls. There are per-trade and per-day size caps and a global pause switch.
the scorecard 📊
Every alert is logged with the price at the time, and forward returns at 5 min, 15 min, 1 h and 4 h are recorded as they mature. /stats shows hit rate and average signed return per alert type — gross of fees, and marked "not advice". Undertow never publishes a number that isn't in that table.

faq
Does Undertow hold my money?
No. Funds never leave your Hyperliquid account. The agent key can place orders and nothing else.
What does it cost?
There's no subscription. Orders placed through the bot carry Hyperliquid's builder code with a max rate of 0.01%, shown in your wallet when you approve it.
Why is there no liquidation price on my position?
You're in cross margin and over-collateralised: no price of that asset alone can liquidate you. The radar shows the account-level ratio instead — that's the number that matters in cross margin.
Why did my order fail with "insufficient margin" when I have USDC?
The order was on a HIP-3 venue (xyz, para …) and your USDC is in the main perps account. Each venue is its own margin account — see venues & margin.
Are the alerts trading signals?
They're information about positioning and flow. Our backtests do not show a reliable edge from mechanically following them; the scorecard shows exactly how each type has done. Trade what you understand.
How do I stop?
/disconnect destroys your agent key on our side; revoking it under API Wallets on Hyperliquid removes it on-chain. Or just /mute.
